Tomorrow from 10am – 4pm, Craftwerk packs up its needles, wool, decorated plates and animal-themed stationery and moves out to Te Tuhi in Pakuranga.
If you haven’t been before, Craftwerk is a market where everything is hand-made, and usually made by the person selling it to you, and also usually pretty different from the crafts your nana used to make. That is, of course, unless your nana was into notebooks made from old records, glittery knitted necklaces or laser-cut perspex cassette-tape badges.
Prices are generally friendly to the budget-conscious, and once you’re finished shopping, you can listen to some live music – the line-up for tomorrow includes The Spoils (from Melbourne), Seth and Merle, and Ryan Cardno.
And if you’re thinking, “ohhh, Pakuranga, that’s far away! Aargh, rising fuel prices! Aargh, it’ll take me three buses to get there!” you can always catch the free bus, leaving Artstation on Ponsonby Road at 1.30pm and returning at 3.30pm – and as a special bonus, you get on-board entertainment from DJ Too Many Cats.
